Wriddhiman Saha Was Scared After Testing Covid-19 Positive

Wriddhiman Saha, who is in isolation in Delhi will continue staying there. The report suggests that he will undergo another round of testing and if he tests negative, doctors might consider releasing him from quarantine by Monday.  He had earlier revealed that he was scared after having tested positive for Coronavirus.

“I was certainly scared. A virus that has brought the Earth to a standstill, after being infected by it, I was bound to feel scared. Everyone in the family was very worried. We reassured them through video calls that there is no reason to be afraid. I am being taken care of enough,” Wriddhiman Saha had said in an interview with Anandabazar Patrika.

“I felt tired after finishing the practice on the first day of May. I felt cold. Cold & mild cough. I informed the team doctor that day. Arrangements were made for me to stay in seclusion without any risk. Covid test was taken on the same day,” he added.

Meanwhile, with India reeling under the second wave of Covid – the IPL 2021 season has been suspended indefinitely. Reports suggest that BCCI is looking to conduct the remaining 31 matches in the September window. There is no confirmation on this as yet, while BCCI has made it clear that the remainder of the tournament will not take place in India.

Wriddhiman Saha Was Selected In 20 Member Test Squad For WTC Final And England Tests Subject To Fitness

The wicketkeeper-batsman was tested positive for the virus last week on the same day the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League was suspended by the BCCI and IPL Governing Council. Wriddhiman Saha had tested positive for the virus hours before his side’s match versus Mumbai Indians.

A day before, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier (both KKR) had also tested positive, forcing the postponement of the 30th league match of the season between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The 14th edition was finally suspended altogether after Wriddhiman Saha’s case popped up. Later on the same day, Delhi Capitals (DC) veteran Amit Mishra had also returned a positive result.

The keeper, who played 2 matches for SRH in the season, has said that he tested negative twice despite showing all the Covid-19 symptoms. It was only in the third test that the 36-year-old returned a positive result. The veteran keeper has been named in India’s 20-man squad for England tour but whether he will board the flight depends on the mandatory fitness test which he will have to pass to get the final nod.
