Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra feels that promising Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is still a work in progress as a test cricketer, as he struggled against the Indian bowling attack on the fourth day of the World Test Championship final before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja in the end.

The 24-year-old played a pivotal role in Australia’s campaign for their team’s qualification for the final in England. Green has been touted to be the next big thing in International Cricket with his ability to contribute in all three formats and will also huge role to play for the Baggy Green in Ashes 2023.

Speaking on his youtube channel reviewing the fourth day’s play, Aakash Chopra praised Umesh Yadav for brilliant bowling on the initial overs of the fourth day, as Cameron Green could not make an impact with the bat, as he struggled to get going as he went into a defensive mindset scoring conservatively and feels that the Australian all-rounder is a work in progress in test cricket.

“Umesh Yadav gave a good start. It was a good ball that went away, Marnus Labuschagne got an edge and he got out. Now Alex Carey was there with Cameron Green. Interestingly enough, Cameron Green didn’t bat at all the way he can or is known for.”

“He had made up his mind that he will not score runs at all and will play extremely defensively. Risk mitigation – it was a slightly flawed strategy in my opinion because you were already ahead in the game. That’s why Ravindra Jadeja ultimately dismissed him. Cameron Green’s knock told me that he is WIP as a Test cricketer.” Aakash Chopra said

Green scored 25 runs off 95 deliveries before being dismissed in an unconventional manner playing onto the stumps of Ravindra Jadeja’s ball putting their team in a tricky situation before Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc put a partnership in the middle to help Australia post a target of 444 runs for India to win the World Test Championship final.
