Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes Joint-Fastest Indian To 1000 First-Class Runs
Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 265 at the SNR College Cricket Ground. He became the joint-fastest Indian to 1000 first-class runs, getting to the mark in only his 13th innings, just like Amol Muzumdar and Rusi Modi.
At the end of third day’s play, West Zone were 376 for 3 and Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting on 209 off 244 balls. Yashasvi Jaiswal began the day from where he had left last evening, adding seven more boundaries to the 23 he had already hit.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Becomes Joint Fastest Indian To 1000 First Class Runs

Yashasvi Jaiswal eventually fell to offspinner Krishnappa Gowtham, having faced 330 deliveries during his monumental knock and added 164 runs with Sarfaraz Khan for the fourth wicket.

There was no respite, however, for the South Zone bowlers as Sarfaraz Khan went about his task with consummate ease to swell his team’s overall lead and put them in a commanding position. Sarfaraz Khan also stitched together an unbroken partnership of 103 runs with Het Patel (51 not out) to compound South Zone’s misery.

West Zone Wins Duleep Trophy 2022 With Valuable Contributions From Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Jaydev Unadkat And Shams Mulani

West Zone had amassed 585 for four before declaring in their second innings after conceding a 57-run first-innings lead to their opponents.
Playing prominent roles in firing the West Zone to the big win in the batting department were Yashasvi Jaiswal (265) and Sarfaraz Khan (127) in the second innings. The bowlers were led by seasoned left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat, who finished with a match haul of 6 for 80.

West Zone won the 2022 Duleep Trophy title after crushing South Zone by 294 runs on the fifth day in Coimbatore on Sunday. Set a huge target of 529 runs for an outright win, South Zone were bowled out for 234 in 71.2 overs, with left-arm spinner Shams Mulani (4 for 51) picking up three of the four wickets to fall on the final day.

The final day of the Test saw a bold move by West Zone’s skipper Ajinkya Rahane who sent off star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal off the field after the latter was involved in a verbal altercation with South Zone’s Ravi Teja.
West Zone 270 (Patel 98, Sai Kishore 5-86) and 585 for 4 dec (Jaiswal 265, Sarfaraz 127*, Iyer 71, Sai Kishore 2-157) beat South Zone 234 (Kunnummal 93, Mulani 4-51) and 327 (Indrajith 118, Unadkat 4-52) by 294 runs
