Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq believes the Indian captain Virat Kohli can not be compared with former legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Razzaq said that Kohli can not be placed in the same category as Tendulkar. Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman in the world and he occupies the numero uno position in the ODI and Test rankings.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been the most consistent batsman in the world. Kohli has already scored 43 ODI centuries and he is bettering almost every record that Sachin Tendulkar had set up.
After Bumrah, Razzaq now targets Virat Kohli.
On the other hand, it is always peculiar to liken two players of different generations. The conditions are different and so are the bowlers. The rules have significantly changed and it doesn’t make much sense to compare two players of different eras.
“If you speak to players from 1992 to 2007, they will tell you what cricket was,” Razzaq said. “There were world-class players at that time. Now there are no longer world-class players. There is no depth in bowling, batting or fielding. It is all basic now.”
“If Virat Kohli scores, he scores. Yeah, he is a good player for them and is performing consistently, but you cannot place him in the same category as Sachin Tendulkar. He belongs to a different category,” Abdul Razzaq said while talking to Cricket Pakistan.
On the other hand, Abdul Razzaq had also taken a dig at India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Razzaq said that Bumrah is a baby bowler and he would have dominated him easily during his playing days. On the contrary, Bumrah is the best in the business and he has breathed down the neck of the best batsmen in the game.
“I have played against great bowlers like Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram, so Bumrah is a baby bowler in front of me and I could have easily dominated and attacked him,” said Razzaq.
“After having faced world-class bowlers in my time, I would have had no problem against a bowler like Bumrah. The pressure would have been on him,” Razzaq further added.
These are absurd comments from Abdul Razzaq. Bumrah is currently out of action due to injury and he is rehabilitating. The gun paceman is the number one bowler in the ODI format and he is placed at fifth rank in the Test fold.
