Yuvraj Singh hit a stormy 187 in Ranji Trophy

Yuvraj Singh is back in action with a 187 run innings, that helped his state Punjab to get a lead of more than hundred runs.

The Punjab has taken a lead of 141 runs over the visitor Gujrat at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.

Gujrat in their first innings scored 467 losing their all 10 wickets. Parthiv Patel and Priyank Kirit Panchal scored hundreds for Gujrat.

Punjab, in their reply in the first innings, scored 608 with the help of Yuvraj Singh’s double hundred and Mana Vohra’s 104.

Yuvraj’s 187 was comprised of stroke play. He played only 233 balls. He hit 14 boundaries and 7 sixes. But, Yuvraj’s fearless approach to the game finally ended by Rujul Bhatt.


Yuvraj Singh came to bat no.6.  After Mandeep Singh departed leaving Gujrat 378 for 4 Yuvraj Singh rattled the Gujrat bowlers lead by RP Singh and Ramesh Powar.

It was a typical gusty innings from Yuvraj, Singh, who was vying for a comeback in the Indian team. He anchored Punjab to get a first innings lead of 141.

Yuvraj was looking sound to get his first Ranji double hundred. But, he tried to play a skier off Rujul Bhatt, which was caught by RP Singh inside the circle.

After Yuvraj Singh’s departure Punjab innings did not last long as Brainder Sran got out in the following delivery of Bhatt. However, Punjab’s 141 runs first innings lead will obviously put them on a strong position in the match. Thanks to Yuvraj Singh, scintillating 187.

For Gujrat, Rujul Bhatt was the most successful bowler. He finished with a figure of 8 for 151.
