Former Indian batting legend VVS Laxman has heaped praise on former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh and said that he fulfilled the dream of more than a billion people. VVS Laxman has been one of India’s most respected cricketers and has certainly won the hearts of many Indians through his performance over the years.

VVS Laxman, himself,  was a consistent run-getter in Test cricket while a more than capable white-ball batsman. His match-saving knock against Australia alongside Rahul Dravid in the 2001 Kolkata Test at Eden Gardens is still considered to be one of the finest Test knocks by an Indian batsman in the format.

Now, VVS Laxman has heaped praise on Yuvraj Singh for his stellar show in the 2011 World Cup that helped India lift the trophy after 28 years.

VVS Laxman Heaps Praise On Yuvraj Singh

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Laxman posted a picture of Yuvraj and said that it was scarcely unbelievable that the former all-rounder carried the team on his shoulders at the 2011 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup despite going through rough times physically off the field.

“An inspiration to many through his successful conquest of cancer,it’s scarcely believable that @YUVSTRONG12 carried the team on his shoulders at the 2011 World Cup when gravely unwell. That he registered his highest ODI score after his recovery is tribute to his unwavering spirit,” he wrote on Twitter.

Yuvraj Singh Was The Man Behind India’s World Cup Triumph

India won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup by beating Sri Lanka in the final of the tournament by six wickets. Yuvraj Singh was adjudged the man of the tournament as he put on an unimaginable all-round performance, keeping in mind that he had cancer at that very moment.

Even after having health concerns throughout the tournament, Yuvraj Singh never backed away from any challenge and helped the Indian team in the most clutch situations. He has been a fighter all his life and VVS Laxman has now acknowledged his giant spirit.
