ToggleOf late, especially, after the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019, the Wrist Spin duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav aren’t being considered for the T20I format of the game. They asked Rahul Chahar to do the job alongside Krunal Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, who can deliver with the bat as well.
This raised a question over their preferece in the T20 format. However, the chief selector MSK Prasad confirmed that the duo is in the scheme of things for sure. But clearing the air on the same, India chief selector MSK Prasad on Tuesday said the spinning duo are very much a part of India’s T20I plans in the future.

They are definitely ahead in the race – MSK Prasad
Though Washington Sundar was there in India’s T20 teams, leg-spinner Rahul Chahar’s inclusion has pushed Chahal and Kuldeep out of the squads from the shorter format. However, MSK Prasad explained that the selection panel is looking to have a bigger pool of spinners for the team.
He also confirmed that Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are the front runners in the spin section for the upcoming world cup. Further, he gave an example of Shreyas Iyer, who made rapid strides in domestic cricket alongside Navdeep Saini.
“In order to bring variety in the spin bowling department, we have been trying youngsters keeping in view of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Chahal and Kuldeep have been outstanding performers in the shorter formats in the last two years. They are definitely ahead in the race now. It’s just that we are trying few other options now,” MSK Prasad told India Today in an exclusive interview.
“In shorter formats, we have seen Shreyas Iyer emerging as a matured batsman who can play to the situations and demands of the team and deliver accordingly. Similarly, we have seen (Navdeep) Saini, Krunal (Pandya), Washington (Sundar) progressing well in shorter formats.
Well, as MSK Prasad said, having a big pool of players is a good plan to go forward. With Krunal Pandya, Jadeja and Chahar delivering goods for India, the lineup looks rock solid with good depth in the batting point of view.
