Zimbabwe makes a stunning comeback to win 3rd One day International

Zimbawawe defeated Afghanistan by 117 runs in the 3rd One day International at Sharjah just few moments ago. It was an excellent performance by Zimbawawe after scoring 175, the bowlers did an excellent job to bowl out Afghanistan for such a low total.

Zimbawawe won the toss and elected to bat. Zimbabwe innings got off to a poor start losing the first two wickets for 0. Masakazda and Mutumambi put up a 33 runs stand for the 3 wicket before they lost 4 wickets in space of 14 runs to be reduced to 49 for 7. The game was all but over and then the turnaround came as Masakazda and Maclom Waller put a crucial 104 for the eight wicket.

Maskakazda was the main contributor as Waller only scored 8 runs. Maskazda was playing attacking strokes and helped Zimbawawe reach a modest total of 175. Maskakzda was the last batsmen out for 83. The pick of bowlers for Afghanistan was Ashraf picking 3 for 20 in 8 over’s.  

Chasing a target of 176 runs, Afghanistan lost 2 early wickets of Mohammad Nabi and Noor Ali Zadran. Stanikzai and Mohammad Shazad put 16 runs for the third wicket before Stanikzai was dismissed for 6. Mohammad Shazad lost his wicket at the score of 39. Afghanistan batsmen were not able to stay at the crease and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Afghansitan lost 6 wickets within 9 over’s and Zimbawawe bowled brilliantly and never allowed the Afghan batsmen to score runs with ease. Afghanistan was bowled out for just 58 in 16. 1 over’s. The top scorer for Afghanistan was Mohammad Shazad with 31 The pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe were Luke Jongwe who picked 5 wickets and gave away just 6 runs. Zimbabwe won the match by 117 runs.

With this Zimbabwe has reduced the gap to 1-2 with two matches to go.
