Liverpool were heavily linked to a number of players since the transfer window opened in January but have not yet added to the squad that will play the rest of the season. Though certain moves seemed imminent, they have just not been able to wrap things up and will be looking for lifelines just before the 11 pm deadline on Monday.
So with less than 24 hours left for the deadline, lets take a look at 10 deals that the clubs can seal before the window is shut.
1. Piotr Zielinski (Udinese):
On loan at Empoli, the Polish mid-fielder has been in good form for the club and has been an important part of the club. Though Udinese do not want to release the player this window, Klopp might well spend and persuade him to come to Anfield before the dead line.
2. Nolito (Celta Vigo):
€18million rated Spanish striker Nolito has been superb for Celta Vigo this season and it was understood that Liverpool are closing in on his signing with Klopp looking to add to his firepower. But at 29 years old, Nolito looks a short term fix and may not be in Klopp’s good books at the moment.
3. Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund):
Surely the relation with Klopp comes handy if the manager wants the highly rated mid-fielder to make the move to Anfield. Though the 25 year old is tied to the German club till 2017, he is surely considering his options and a reunion with Klopp might serve well for Liverpool in their chase.
4. Daniel Sturridge:
The injury prone striker has now missed 54% of games for the club since his move from Chelsea. He is soon becoming a liability and Klopp is understood to be losing patience. With West Ham knocking on the door, Liverpool might just want to cash in on the prolific striker.
5. Alvaro Morata (Juventus):
The ex-Real Madrid forward came into the picture just a few days ago with deal’s for other players falling apart. Morata represents a very decent buy after the players superb performances last season. Morata has fallen down the pecking order after the rise of Dybala and may just be happy to move to England. However, Chelsea and Tottenham are also monitoring his situation.
6. Leroy Sane (Schalke):
The highly rated 20-year old has been on the radar of the club since the start of the window and a late deal is not completely ruled out even as Barcelona are also reported to be interested. Klopp might want to splash the cash in order to bring the youngster to Liverpool this window rather than wait till summer and face more competition.
7. Jerome Sinclair:
The young forward does not seem to have too much future under Jurgen Klopp and he is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Watford before the dead line day. He will move on a permanent deal to Vicarage road and will hope to get more chances at the club.
8. Ezequiel Lavezzi (PSG):
Though this is a spicy rumor, PSG have apparently made it clear that the Argentine is free to listen to offers from clubs but have said that they want him to stay at the club till summer. But with the attacking woes at Anfield, Klopp might o tempted to lure him to England before the deadline on Monday.
9. Alex Teixeira (Shakthar Donetsk):
The biggest story for Liverpool this January has been Brazilian target Alex Teixeira. Even as the player has made a public statement that he wants to move to Liverpool, Shakthar’s asking price is too high for the Merseyside club and the move hit a snag a few days ago. However, with the transfer window closing soon, many are expecting Klopp to strike a last minute deal with the inform forward.
10. Adam Bogdan:
After mediocre performances in the limited chances he got, Bogdan might be out of the club in less than 6 months after joining as Klopp has deemed him to not be fit for a first team place. French club Stade de Reims are reportedly interested in the Hungarian and a deal can be reportedly stuck any time soon.
