The Premier League is not just one of the most competitive leagues in the world but it is also one of the most physically challenging league in the world. Even in the domestic circuit in England, the physical approach to the game that is taught is what makes this league all the more interesting and tougher to play in.
But over the years, we have seen some legendary footballers who were tough tacklers and were never afraid to put their body on the line. Some never backed down from a fight while some were waiting for it.
There were a number of players that not many would want to start a fight with and here is a list of the top-10 players who you would not want to start a fight with.
This list includes Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United stars but did your favorite make the list? Check out in this piece:
Diego Costa (Chelsea):
One of the two players on the list to still be active, Costa, has been involved in a number of controversies and is not going away from a game without creating a violent atmosphere.
Roy Keane (Manchester United):
The Manchester United legend is arguably one of the biggest hitman for Manchester United and in his time at the club, not many wanted to face the Red Devils.
Eric Cantona (Manchester United):
Another legend of the club, Cantona, is known for his audacious self-respect and he was so violent that he once kicked out at a Crystal Palace fan.
Neil Ruddock (Liverpool):
The Liverpool star is one of the few players at Anfield that were good in this approach. He once broke Ashley Cole’s legs with a legitimate tackle.
Vinnie Jones (Chelsea):
Currently a villain in Hollywood, Jones, is as scary in the movies as he was on the pitch in his time at the Stamford Bridge ages ago.
Joey Barton (Burnley):
The only other star on the list that is still active in the Premier League, Barton, hardly shies away from a fight on and off the pitch.
Thomas Gravesen (Everton):
Known for his aggressive and career ending tackles, the ex-Everton midfielder broke a fair number of bones in his time at the Goodison Park.
Martin Keown (Arsenal):
The only Gunner on this list, Keown, is arguably the only player that bought this part of the game to the Emirates. He instilled fear in the forwards’ mind even before he put in at tackle.
Stig Tofting (Bolton):
Well built with an angry face, Tofting, was an aggressive player who once took out 4 AGF Arhus team mates in one go.
Duncan Ferguson (Everton):
The skipper of the Everton side not so long ago, Ferguson, was an attacker with an instinct to pick up a fight. He was not the easiest man to mark because of his physical approach to the game.
