AC Milan are reportedly edging closer to signing Everton midfielder Gerard Deulofeu after the Toffees agree on a deal to land Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin.
Schneiderlin is heading to Merseyside with the expectation that his £22million deal can be wrapped up by the weekend.
The France international has dropped out of Manchester City manager Jose Mourinho’s plans and his former boss Ronald Koeman has sought a reunion at Goodison Park.
But Schneiderlin’s arrival has cast Deulofeu’s future at Everton into serious doubt.
It emerged earlier this week that both Middlesbrough and Milan are interested in Spaniard Deulofeu.
His agent was said to be heading to Everton in order to begin discussions over a transfer out of the club.
And Sky Sport Italia claim Deulofeu is edging closer to a move to the San Siro thanks to Manchester United’s agreement to sell Schneiderlin.
Schneiderlin leaves for Everton having played just 11 minutes of Premier League football in six months. He had not been included in any of Mourinho’s matchday squads since November.
Even Bastian Schweinsteiger, a player who was ordered to train with the reserves at the start of the season, had jumped above him in the pecking order.
Milan have already had a loan bid for the player turned down.
But Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim Deulofeu has already agreed to join Milan, who must now negotiate with Everton over a switch.
Deulofeu has played just 13 games for Everton this season and cost the club £4.3million when he arrived from Barcelona on a permanent deal in 2015.
