Manchester United missed out on signing one of their biggest target this summer as Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez joined Premier League champions Chelsea FC for a transfer fee of 30 million Euros.
The Red Devils were closely linked with a move for the former Barcelona star but Chelsea entered the race in the ending moments and wrapped up a deal lucrative deal for the player.
Pedro’s agent Antonio Sanz claims that even though United were the front runners to sign his client, the club took it easy in the ending moments which made way for their rivals Chelsea to join the race. Sanz told that Chelsea completed the entire deal within 24 hours.
Speaking to media Sanz said: “Maybe Manchester United fell asleep. The negotiation with Chelsea was like a lightning bolt.
“”It is common knowledge that United were in the bidding for Pedro, but Chelsea were faster and within 24 hours reached an agreement with the club. It was a whirlwind.”
At a Friday press conference on Friday, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho hailed Pedro as “one of the best attacking players in the world”. Pedro’s agent Antonio Sanz has no doubt that his agency’s client will do a grear job in the Premier League.
Sanz further added: “Pedro is going to have a very good year and is going to be one of the sensations of the Premier League.”
Pedro joined Chelsea training on Thursday just after signing for the club. He mentioned that Jose Mourinho and Cesc Fabregas played a vital role in his decision to join the Blues over any other club.
The Spaniard was linked with Manchester City and Manchester United.
