Manchester United are now looking for long term replacements in the midfield given that both Carrick and Schweinsteiger are both old and may soon call it quits.

They need for a young central midfielder is there and van Gaal is personally interested in Ajax midfielder Abdelhak Nouri.

Nouri is considered to be one of the finest talents in Dutch football presently and van Gaal is keen to sign him up.

Van Gaal has close links with the Amsterdam club and the transfer will have a personal link to it.

Nouri is the captain to the youth team at present, but seeing his form and talent, he will definitely be absorbed into the first team by the end of this season.

Van Gaal wants to bring him to Manchester United before he joins the main Ajax team since he is sure that his services will help him in central midfield.

There is a lot of competition for the youngster from Arsenal, Everton and Southampton, but van Gaal would like to finish this deal without competition by using his contacts well.

The 18-year-old is a mercurial and agile midfielder who is rising rapidly in Dutch football and the Premier league stalwarts are watching him closely. Ajax are definitely keen to keep their promising youngster, who captains Ajax and Holland’s Under 19 teams currently.

Arsenal have sent chief scout Steve Rowley to monitor the midfielder, and he’s made several personal checks and the Gunners don’t want to miss a chance to sign the youngster who would bolster the midfield.

Nouri is seen as the “star of the future in Dutch football” and with so many teams watching him closely, time will decide who will grab the youngster at the earliest with Arsenal in the race and van Gaal having a personal interest in the attacking midfielder.
