As deadline day approached, Manchester United made a signing out of the blue, of a “relatively unknown teenager”, that too for £36million (with add-ons which could rise to £58million), on which raised many eyebrows. United fans didn’t look too happy with such big money being spent on a teenager, who was unknown to them, with rival fans mocking, it was not a great time for United faithful. Everybody said it was last moment panic buy. Van Gaal said this signing was made as a future prospect. But, when Martial made his debut against rivals Liverpool, replacing Mata, a new star was born. The lad made a rampaging run towards Liverpool defence, scored an incredible solo goal and football fans found shades of Thierry Henry in him. Next TH14, is he going to be? Let’s analyze.
The Lyon academy product joined AS Monaco in 2013. Despite limited opportunities in initial days, he gradually made his way into the senior team, he thrived in the counter attacking 4-3-3 system. Last season he scored 12 goals in all competitions with some beautiful assists (remember his assist against Arsenal). Currently, he has moved ahead of other exciting young prospects like a Divock Origi. After his Thierry Henry-esque goal against Liverpool, he scored twice against strong Southampton side, followed by his strike against Ipswich. Now he has 4 goals in 5 matches for Man United. The young lad is showing great vision and composure, his sublime assist to Rooney proves that. Like Thierry Henry, he has technical ability and pace in both wide areas and centrally. Accelerating runs towards opponents’ box is also a common trait between the two. His interchanging of positions inside the box, great dribbling skills, speed, meticulous finishing makes him a special footballer. Unlike many other forwards, he is unselfish and despite his young age, he is blessed with outstanding finishing. His lobs, tap-ins, shooting and toiling to find the net, besides utilizing his upper body power to great effect will make him a success in the Premier League.

With such huge potential and certain TH14 traits, hope Martial does justice to his potential and “Vive Le Martial in the Premier League.
