Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta believes that Arsenal are ‘a level above’ their city rivals Chelsea. The French giants are set to face Arsenal in UEFA Champions League next week after facing Chelsea consecutively for the last three years in knock-out rounds.
The Gunners will travel to Parc des Princes next week as they fancy their chances against the French champions who are yet to find their feet in the current season.
Paris Saint-Germain have so far not hit their form under new manager Unai Emery. The departure of their target man Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United and the growing injury list meant they are in some serious trouble going into the Champions League fixture against Arsenal.
PSG have lost 3-1 to AS Monaco before international break and have dropped points against Saint Etienne in a 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes this week going into the clash against Gunners.
And PSG midfielder Motta believes that playing Arsenal would be a much difficult task than against Chelsea. The 34-year old believes that the Gunners strength is their open style of play.
Arsenal are a level above Chelsea because they like to play,’ Motta said.
‘We have not faced an English team that plays this way.’
The injury crisis have hit peak at PSG as Brazilian international Marquinhos had to start against Saint Etienne in less than 48 hours after returning from international duty. The deadline day transfer of David Luiz meant PSG are now relying on youth academy graduate Presnel Kimpembe who has been impressive so far.
