Real Madrid out of favour midfielder Asier Illaramendi has been linked with a move out of Santiago Bernabeu throughout the summer consistently and after the arrival of Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid, the departure of the 25-year-old seems imminent.

Signed from Real Sociedad for a whopping €32m in 2013, Illarramendi has made only 25 league starts for Los Blancos in two years and is frustrated with a lack of first-team football.

David Moyes’ Real Sociedad are favourites to re-sign him this summer, but there is also interest from Athletic Bilbao as well as Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal and Serie A giants Juventus, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Arsenal are in the market for a defensive midfielder to provide competition for Francis Coquelin while Liverpool are also looking to fill the void left by the departure of iconic Steven Gerrard, while Lucas Leiva is also rumoured to be leaving.

Having come through the Real Sociedad youth academy, the defensive midfielder made his name in La Liga in 2012-13 season helping them finish fourth to achieve Champions League spot which earned him recognition as La Liga Best Midfielder that season.

But he never got a fair chance at Real Madrid and became only a squad player and he is destined to move in the remainder of the transfer window.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are preparing a £16-million bid for the Real Madrid superstar and will face tough competition from many European giants for his signature.
