Arsenal and Spurs are on alert as Southampton’s tenacious midfielder Victor Wanyama has told Ronald Koeman that he wants to leave St Mary’s Stadium, according to Sky Sports.
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman said on Friday the player is “not for sale” while Sky understands the club have informed the 24-year-old of their intention to offer a new contract.
But the former Celtic player has told the management that he is not happy at the south coast and wants to move elsewhere.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants reunite with the Kenyan international at White Hart Lane according to Sky. He brought the player from Celtic two years ago when he was at Southampton and wants to get him at Spurs after the departure of his 3 midfielders Paulinho, Capoue and Stambouli.
Wanyama has since made 57 Premier League appearances for Southampton, scoring three goals
While Arsenal are also interested in him. He was linked with Arsenal in earlier windows also and Wanyama admitted interest in a move to Arsenal in June whilst speaking to Kenyan TV, but has previously had to deny making comments to the press after reports that he had said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was interested in him.
The 24 year old will upset Ronald Koeman’s plans, given that he insisted that nobody else would be leaving the club following reported interest in Sadio Mane from Manchester United.
