According to reports in The Mirror, English giants Arsenal are contemplating to make a move for Porto star Yacine Brahimi after missing out on Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez.
The North London club did not have the busiest of transfer market this summer as Granit Xhaka is the only major arrival at the Emirates. The lack of transfer business has already infuriated the Gunners fans. With Arsenal’s hopes of signing Shkodran Mustafi not materialising yet, the fans are fuming. And the team’s failure to register a victory in the first two games have deteriorated the conditions even further at the club.
In a recent press conference, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger expressed his interest in spending money to bring new players in order to bolster his squad and it seems that he might make a move for the Porto winger.
Brahimi, who was even considered by Liverpool and Arsenal, has already said that he wants to leave the Portuguese club. He was left out of Porto’s Champions League qualifier in midweek and the Portuguese club will sell the player for £40million.
It is hoped that Arsene Wenger will respond to the criticism by making big money moves before the end of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Arsenal look set to miss out on Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez, 21, with the Spanish club insisting he is not for sale unless his £56million buyout clause is met.
