In what will come as a great news for Arsenal fans, top transfer target Alexandre Lacazette is now reportedly open to a move away from the French outfit Lyon.
Arsene Wenger, who was in desperate need of an attacker missed out on the likes of Jamie Vardy, Mauro Icardi, and Riyad Mahrez among a host of other names throughout the transfer window.
However, he finally managed to secure the services of in-form La Liga forward Lucas Perez to add his squad before the deadline day.
The manager will know that he is not the first choice transfer target for him in the summer and though Perez may be influential this season, Wenger will surely rue missed opportunities to get top class stars to the club this summer.
The Lyon star will be the biggest regret for Arsenal as he is a player who will fit into Wenger’s style of play seamlessly.
He is a strong, physical presence in the opposition half but his passing and holding up attributes make him a perfect for the Premier League.
He is an exquisite finisher and has kept up his form from the previous season scoring 6 goals so far in the first 3 games of the new French domestic season and it was understood that Lyon, the League 1 outfit who own the 25-year are desperate to keep him at the club for a longer time.
Recent reports suggested that Lyon offered the star striker an extended contract that will keep him at the club till 2019 and also makes him the highest paid athlete for the club in its history.
It was also understood that Lacazette was happy in France and that he was close to striking a deal with the club for the contract extension.
However, reports today have revealed that the 25-year old has rejected a new contract with the club.
Bleacher Report, Lacazette has rejected Lyon’s latest offer which would see the striker earn €80,000 per week.
With the transfer window now shut, and the January one not providing the best opportunity, it is understood that Arsene Wenger might take steps to get him to sign for the club next summer already.
It will be an interesting move for Lacazette who has rejected a new contract just a week after the end of the deadline day.
One can wonder why he did not make the move this summer if he was not happy in France. Do you think Lacazette will move away from Lyon next summer?
