Arsenal play-maker perfect for Barcelona says Liverpool legend

One of the most successful clubs in recent times, Barcelona have made some shrewd business in the last few transfer windows and have accumulated a world beating squad at Camp Nou for this season.

They will, however, add to their squad this summer and a number of players have been linked with a potential move to the club.

One such player is Arsenal’s midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey has always been a player known for his potential and has produced some great moments for the Gunners over the past couple of seasons.

However, he has not been able to cement a place in the starting XI at the Emirates as his career has often been hampered by injuries.

But that does not mar the fact that he is a great player and former Liverpool legend in a recent interview stated that the 25-year old would be a perfect suit for Barcelona’s style of play.

Former Wales captain Ian Rush said that fellow countryman Aaron Ramsey will have no problems fitting into the Camp Nou outfit next season.

Speaking to the website WalesOnline about Ramsey, Rush said, “I think he’s a great player, fantastic”

“People who criticize him don’t know enough in my opinion.”

Ramsey is used primarily as a holding midfielder at the Emirates but he has time and again shown his class in front of goal scoring some wonderful goals for club and country.

At times, he has been criticized for the lack of defensive awareness in mid-field but Rush felt that playing for a club like Barcelona will lift the pressure off the 25-year and added that it would help him to blossom into an even better player.

“I think the way Barcelona play suits him. Aaron likes to get forward and score goals, and his sense of duty in midfield would be less there than it is at Arsenal,” he added.

Ramsey is known for his ability on the ball and the ease with which he can find the correct pass in pressure situations and the Liverpool legend exclaimed that he is one of the players in Europe that can walk into a Spanish team.

He said, “It’s no coincidence that people talk about him and Barcelona, he’s one of those that could easily play in that league.”

Ian Rush was also asked whether the star players for Wales, Bale and Ramsey will have any part to play in this international break and he felt that the duo will be rested this week.

He added that it was a great time for the rest of the team to prove their worth.

“They’re world-class and we do need them (Bale and Ramsey), but the other players have got to take their chance.”

Ramsey has scored 8 goals in all competitions for the Gunners this term and will be hoping to have an impact on the remainder of the season and take his team to the top of the table.
