Arsenal plotting a cut price deal for Winston Reid

Arsenal not only hosted West Ham in the last game of the year 2014 at Emirates Stadium, but as things have turned out, it was Winston Reid’s chance to impress Arsene Wenger and that is exactly what Reid might have done, as reports from leading British newspapers have emerged that Arsenal are looking to sign Winston Reid from West Ham in a cut price deal.

Arsenal’s interest in signing Winston Reid is not a surprise as the Gunners have watched him play in every single game since November and if the scouts are watching properly then they must have realized Reid’s potential and maturity. Winston Reid has been a crucial figure in West Ham’s solid defense this season. Transfer fee for Winston Reid is expected to be in a region of £4 Million.

Arsenal are confident for striking the deal for the English center back as they believe West Ham can be persuaded to sell the talented center Back in January or loose him on a “FREE TRANSFER”, since Reid’s contract expires in the summer and he has no intention of renewing the contract with the Hammers.

There are still few stumbling blocks which are yet to be sorted in this proposed transfer news. Arsenal are hesitating in meeting the wage demands of the player which is said to be beyond 60,000 a week. In addition to the wage Winston Reid’s representatives are interested in a £1 Million signing on bonus.

If these demands are brought to a reasonable grounds for both the parties we can expect Winston Reid to join Arsenal as the much needed defensive cover in their quest to regain their spot in the Top 4 of the league and have a stable run in the Champions League. If Reid is to leave in January, Sam Allardyce will need to find an able replacement because Reid’s absence could hamper West Ham’s flying start to the season.
