Arsenal set to sign Lyon star after Wenger personally intervened in the negotiation

Arsenal are in desperate need of a world-class defensive midfielder for a long time now. However, the drought might just come to an end this summer as the Gunners expected to bring Lyon’s star midfielder Maxime Gonalons for a speculated amount of £14.8 million.

Gonalons had been under the radar of Arsenal for a while now with the scouts tracking his progress on a regular basis for two years now. The Gunners were expected to land the 25 year old midfielder last summer, but Gonalons opted to stay at Lyon.

The arrival of Gonalons will be a major boost to Gunners given his class and passing accuracy. However, he might opt to stay at Lyon if they secure a place in Champions League next year and if the Gunners failed to do so.

It is believed that Arsene Wenger has personally sought him out and given his desire for a quality defensive holding midfielder, he is believed to made a request to the Gunners’ management for the services of the Lyon star.

However it will not be an easy task for Arsene Wenger and Gunners to sign the talented midfielder with competition from premier league rivals Spurs and Italian giants Napoli who are also going all-out for the services of the midfielder.
