Arsenal have made a fresh bid in order to sign the defensive midfielder William Carvarho from the Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. According to Sun, Arsenal are ready to splash £28.5million for the highly rated midfielder.

Carvalho has been on the radar of Premier League sides for last 6 months with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. Carvalho was thought to be heading to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window but no official bid was made the Old Trafford outfit.

Carvalho was once again in the frame to be Van Gaal’s midfield signing but United have made Morgan Schneiderlin their key target for the summer paving way for Carvalho to join Arsenal instead.

Why the renewed interest in Carvalho?

William Carvalho played one of his most impressive games in the ongoing U-21 Euro Championships over England. Carvalho’s performance helped his side get a 1-0 win over England and it has renewed Arsenal’s interest of signing carvalho from Sporting Lisbon.

Another key factor is Jack Wilshere’s development at Arsenal. Manchester City have made Wilshere their key target for the summer and many quarters of Arsenal hierarchy are convinced that Wilshere is persuaded by the offer at present.

Wilshere’s departure would tempt Arsene Wenger to buy a new midfield player and who better than William Carvalho to fill the void. Wilshere has not evolved in to a player, Wenger was hoping for so now he could cash out on the £30million rated England star.

How would Carvalho fit in to Arsenal’s system?

Arsenal are currently operating with Francis Coquelin at the heart of midfield but he lacks another combative player who could add steel to Arsenal’s playing style. Santi Cazorla, 30 is not getting any younger and could move away in coming seasons.

William Carvalho is ready to sign at the biggest stage of European Football and Arsenal are doing their bit to bring in the 23-year old player to Premier League with their renewed £28.5million bid.
