Arsenal Handed Huge Boost Ahead Of Champions Clash With Bayern Munich

Arsenal were handed a major boost ahead of their crucial high profile Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena.

The Gunners will once again face a daunting task of defeating Bayern Munich in the round of 16 as both the sides are set to face each other thrice in the last five years in the same stage. Bayern Munich prevailed the last two times the sides met in this round but the affair will be much closer one as Arsenal are in spectacular form while Bayern are still finding their feet under Carlo Ancelotti.

But the German giants were hit with another injury as key midfielder Arturo Vidal was subbed off mid way during their Bundesliga game against Frieburg which they won 2-1 in the closing moments of the game.

Bayern Munich are already facing injury crisis with key players Thiago Alacantara and Jerome Boateng who are still doubtful to be fit for the game at Allianz Arena on February 15.

Despite having injuries to their star players, Bayern Munich still have Joshua Kimmich, Renato Sanches and Xabi Alonso in their roster as there is no lack of quality in their squad.

‘I feel bad and have severe pain on the rib. Now I will have to pause, because I cannot play,’ Vidal told TZ.

‘I already missed training for a week, but now it should take at least two or three weeks.

‘[I will see] how I feel for the last 16 in the Champions League.’

Even if Arsenal will have to face a relatively low quality Bayern Munich, it will be huge task for Gunners to win the game at Allianz Arena as Bayern Munich hold a record 15 game winning streak in the Champions League at the iconic stadium.

The last time Arsenal played at Allianz Arena they suffered a huge 5-1 loss and Wenger would be keen to put in a much solid performance at Munich to stand a chance in the second leg which could pave the way for their quarterfinals in many years.
