Manchester United’s move for Paul Pogba was touted as the biggest saga in the summer transfer window this year but now that the deal is done, a new saga has now emerged.
One of the many top priority transfer targets for Arsenal, Riyad Mahrez, was reportedly not up for sale this summer according to a recent interview with Claudio Ranieri, the manager at Leicester City.
This has seen the Gunners cool off their interest in the PFA Player of the Year for the previous season and they have started to look at other options elsewhere in the transfer window.
However, reports yesterday revealed that Mahrez was spotted in Chelsea which gave birth to a rumor that Chelsea are close to agreeing on a deal with the winger in the coming days.
This may have dampened the Gunner’s fans who would have loved for Mahrez to play for them next season.
But now, reports in French suggest that Arsenal may be able to price their man away this summer.
According to those reports, Mahrez is not really committed to his future at Leicester City and is still open for a move away from the club.
The report went on to state that Mahrez has told Leicester City that he prefers a move to Arsenal this summer.
However, it also revealed that the Algerian international is no closer to a move to Arsenal and that there has not been an official word on the story.
French journalist Ilyes Ramdani, went on to say that Mahrez has not committed his future to the Premier League champions and is open to a move.
But he also revealed that the 25-year old will not force his hand for a move to North London and that he may end up playing this season at the King Power.
Arsenal wants their man ahead of the next season but by the looks of it, even if they miss out on him this summer, he will move to the Emirates when he makes a move away from LeicesterCity.
However, it is to be seen if Wenger makes a move and lures Mahrez away this summer. Do you think Mahrez will leave Leicester City this summer?
