Arsene Wenger who is known to scout for young talent has his eyes set on two Nigerian starlets for a long term move to his club this January.
Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze were understood to be close to signing deals with London franchise Arsenal after it was earlier reported that Wenger had scouts monitoring the youngsters.
Ever since the duo started in the U-17 World Cup, loads of clubs from Europe were alert to a the possibility but Wenger was quick to act and a deal is close to being stuck according to sources in the coming days.
Nwakali, who won the player of the tournament in the world cup is set to sign for the Gunners in the upcoming days with a deal set to be announced soon.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on friday that talks with Nwakali were progressing well and the manager has now been pictured with his latest addition. A photo on Instagram showed Wenger and Nwakali with Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis and former Arsenal striker and Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu.
However, these signings are done with the long term future in mind and the lack of transfer activity in the second consecutive window will surely be a topic of debate in the upcoming weeks if no significant addition is made to the current squad that is fighting for its first title in more than 10 years.
