Bayern Munich Chairman Karl Rummenigge insisted that Manchester United target Thomas Muller “will never leave Bayern Munich” in his interview to Sport Bild.
The 25-year old is one of the top transfer targets for Manchester United this summer after they managed to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich earlier this month. United has been heavily linked with the player ever since van Gaal took over at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have made an audacious €100 million bid which was turned down by Bayern Muncih last week as they were keen to old on to their prized possession.
The Bavarian club is keen to extend the contract of Muller which expires in 2019 as they want the German international to retire at the club becoming a club legend. The new contract talks will begin soon said Karl Rummenigge.
In his interview, Rummenigge said: “Thomas Muller is not for sale. I have the feeling that Thomas will never leave FC Bayern. He feels great here.
“When Thomas retires one day, we’d like to integrate him into the club, if he wants to do.”
Regarding Muller’s contract, he said: “We have already accounted for it last year, at that time he had contract for another three years. Ahead of time, we prolonged it for another two years, and increased his salary.
“The one thing does not rule out the other. Let’s wait and see.”
Thomas Muller has made 48 appearences for Bayern Munich last season as he scored 21 goals and assissted 14 more which made him one of the best players in Germany last season.
