English Premier League has just started and two giants of England Liverpool and Arsenal are going head to head against each other in the third game week at Emirates on Monday. Liverpool notched up two wins out of two and will be looking to keep up their 100% record. While, Arsenal started their campaign with a 2-0 loss at home against West Ham and picked up their form to beat Crystal Palace next week at Selhurst Park.
Let’s check their records against each other:

On neutral ground:

Now, let’s take a look at five most memorable matches between the two giants:
1. Liverpool 3-0 Arsenal (August 28, 1994)
In August 1994, Robbie Fowler created a record which looked like it would never be broken when he scored a hat-trick in just four-and-a-half minutes at Anfield. It was typical of a player who at just 18-years-old didn’t seem to care about perceived limits to his scoring exploits. Fowler’s record stood for over 20 years until Southampton’s Sadio Mane notched three goals in two minutes 56 seconds against Aston Villa in May 2015.
2. Liverpool 5-1 Arsenal (8th February 2014)
In February 2014, Arsenal came to Anfield as the league leaders, but found themselves utterly routed and 4-0 down after just 20 minutes. Two goals each from Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel, as well as a slick finish from Daniel Sturridge, resulted in a 5-1 win that transformed the title race.
3. Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal (April 21, 2009)
Liverpool and Arsenal played out a scarcely believable 4-4 draw in April 2009, as Andrey Arshavin struck four goals, the last of which put Arsenal ahead after 90 minutes. But that wasn’t the end of the drama as Yossi Benayoun got his second of the night to make it 4-4. Liverpool had gone behind, gone ahead twice and gone behind again before drawing level. Anfield had seen one of its most exciting games ever, but it was also a severe dent in manager Rafa Benitez’s title hopes.
4. Arsenal 4-1 Liverpool (April 4, 2015)
The most recent fixture between the two giants is a match every Liverpool fan would want to forget. Arsenal hammered Reds totally as Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez scored to give Arsenal a 3-0 lead at half time. Current Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson scored a 76-minute goal for Reds, but Olivier Giroud again gave Gunners a 3 goal lead during the injury time of the game.
5. Liverpool 3-6 Arsenal (9th January 2007)
We saw goals galore in the game as Arsenal defeated Liverpool 6-3 in English League Cup. Arsenal star Julio Baptista had a night to remember as he scored 4 of Arsenal’s 6 goals alone and Alex Song and Jeremie Aliadiere scored the other 2. Liverpool scored 3 goals through Sami Hyypia, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler.
