In a news all too familiar for Liverpool fans, Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge was ruled out of the League Cup Semi-Final against Stoke City on Tuesday night.

The English International has last featured for the Reds on the 6th on December and has since been side-lined due to a hamstring injury. Sturridge has had a very disappointing career at the club that has seen him missing more games than he has featured for the club.

The 26- year old is one of the best finishers in the league and has scored 4 goals in 6 appearances for the club this season.

Speaking to the press before the Stoke City game, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the Striker continues his recovery from Hamstring injury.

“Daniel has had some little problems,” he said. “When he’s had a row of sessions, I will pick him.

“It would be easy for me to say, come on, let’s try, we don’t score enough goals, but we have to be patient.

“Daniel last had a pre-season in 2011. During that period we load bodies with strength. We’re trying to fill his body with energy.”  Daniel Sturridge is an important player for the Reds who have had a hard time scoring goals this season.

Injuries to Danny Ings and Divock Origi has left the club with Christian Benteke as the only option and they will be hoping that theit star player can recover from injury, stay fit and take them near the top of the table.

The club will also miss the services of skipper Jordan Henderson who is out injured. Klopp also confirmed that he will not be travelling with the squad to Stoke.

“We have to wait,” Klopp said. “What’s happened with the tendon is painful. There is blood around heel. We can’t rush it.”
