Blow For Manchester United: Griezmann Opens Up About His Future After Record Breaking Goal In The UCL

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have been one of the most consistent sides in the competition but they have not been able to move up the points table in the Premier League even after staying unbeaten for more than 100 days now.

In this time, United have won the League Cup, have moved into the quarter-final of the FA Cup, the Round of 16 of the Europa League, but have failed to move even a single position up the points table.

The manager will, however, be pleased with his team’s recent performances and will hope that they can keep up the good work to give them a shot at Champions League football next season.

He is convinced that United’s squad needs improvement for the European challenges next season and this has seen him linked with some of the best players in Europe recently.

One such player who has dealt the English club a cruel blow today is French star Antoine Griezmann.

Currently, up with the best strikers in the world in Europe, Griezmann has been in the form of his life since the start of the previous season.

He has grown into a top class player in his time at the Vicente Calderon and is one of the most wanted players in the summer transfer window this year.

The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City are also plotting a move for him at the end of the season but it is understood that Jose Mourinho is the most determined to land him.

However, Griezmann has squashed all such rumors in a recent interview.

Speaking to Spanish TV station RTVE, Griezmann revealed that he is happy at the Spanish capital at the moment and that he is not looking for an exit this summer.

“I’m very happy here, Griezmann told Spanish TV station RTVE.

“Weather helps a lot.

“The team-mates I have are the best, a top manager.

“So I’m very good here, there’s no reason to change,” he added.

Griezmann, who has 20 goals in 27 games in the domestic league this season, has also created club history with his goal in the Champions League recently.

The French star found the back of the net in the 4-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently and that was the 14th goal of the season in Europe for Griezmann which is the highest for a player for the Spanish side.

Griezmann went on to say that he is proud to be a part of the club’s history and hoped that he could get many such moments.

“I’m proud to become part of Atletico’s history with my goal and hopefully I can carry on making history here,” he said.

United are ready to meet his £86m release clause in the summer and that might temp Atelti into selling but at the moment, Manchester United are in with little chance of luring Antoine Griezmann away from the Vicente Calderon.
