Blow for Man United: Long-term target signs new contract with club

French teen sensation Adam Ounas has apparently ended all the speculations over his move to Manchester United by signing a new contract with Bordeaux, French media reports.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder impressed last season during his breakthrough year and he ended the campaign with six goals in 30 appearances.

Manchester United have been linked with a £17m bid, while Serie A giants Napoli have also made enquiries about the Frenchman.

However, Ounas has now ended speculation of him leaving Bordeaux this summer by signing a contract extension.

The teenager has agreed to a new deal which will run until 2021, while he has also earned himself a pay rise.

The likes of Manchester United and Napoli are expected to return in the future, but for now, Ounas is committed to Bordeaux.

Being a Bordeaux academy graduate, Ounas made his first senior appearance on 4 October 2015 and caught the eye with a fine debut goal. He also has two France U20 caps. A wonderful debut goal in a 4-3 win over England U20s last November alerted scouts.

What most stands out about Ounas is how comfortable he is in possession.

He’s one of those players that appears to be born with the ball at his feet. So easy is he on the ball that he never has to look down. So sure is he of his first touch he can use it to manoeuvre the ball into the position that suits him or to beat an opponent

Slight and sylphlike, he glides past opponents using wonderful technique and beautiful balance. You can see opponents backing off in order to avoid getting beaten too easily. If anything that gives Ounas more space to operate in.

An excellent dribbler, he can beat players by drifting past them or through trickery. Great close control allied to balance, plus decent ability on his weaker right foot, means he can go both ways past an opponent.
