Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a superstar striker before the end of the current transfer window as he targets Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, reports The Sun.
Wenger is under huge criticism for his in-activeness in the current transfer window as rivals Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are cruising through with new signings. The 66-year old is yet to make a huge signing since Xhaka’s move earlier in the summer.
The Gunners are keen to sign a proven star striker going into the new season as they are over-reliant on French international Olivier Giroud. Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is reportedly Wenger’s primary target among the two strikers.
The Polish international have currently kept talks on hold over a new contract as he is very unsatisfied with his wages at Bayern Munich. The 27-year old is the key man for Bayern Munich as they are not going to sell for anything less than £60m.
However, Wenger is interested in signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid if he misses on Lewandowski as the 25-year old has been a in prolific run of form which saw Atletico reach Champions League Final and France reach Euro 2016 final.
Griezmann currently have £85.5m buyout clause which could prove tricky to sign him. However, if Wenger signs either of the strikers then Arsenal will be breaking their club record.
