Chelsea football club have confirmed the departure of Gael Kakuta from the club. Chelsea have confirmed that Kakuta has left Stamford Bridge to join the La Liga side Sevilla. Having spent the last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, Kakuta has made his La Liga stay a permanent one by joining Sevilla.
The 24 year old winger joined Stamford Bridge back in 2007 and looked like a real star in the beginning. In his very first season with the blued, Kakuta was named academy player of the year by scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances.
After spending three seasons at the club, Kakuta was sent on loan to several Premier League and European clubs. Kakuta had loan spells with the clubs like Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon, Vitesse, Lazio and in the end with Rayo Vallecano.
It was his move to La Liga which turned out to be the most fruitful one. After playing 25 games, Kakuta ended with 4 goals and 5 assists fully justifying his move away from the current Premier League champions.
Chelsea confirmed Kakuta’s departure on their official website by stating that on Friday both the clubs have come to an agreement concerning kakuta’s permanent move to Spain.
Apart from Kakuta, Chelsea are close to announce Petr Cech’s exit from the club as the 33-year old goal keeper is nearing his 7million move to Arsenal. The official announcement is expected to be made this coming weekend.
