Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is set to stay at Old Trafford for the season, according to Daily Telegraph.

The player have come to an understanding with Mourinho and will not be an automatic starter in the team.

Mourinho who sold Mata to Manchester United back in 2014 from Chelsea was rumored to sell the Spanish international yet again after he took reigns at Old Trafford.

However, the club’s fourth recurred signing will stay and feature for the Red Devils amid interest from a host of clubs in England and Spain.

The likes of Everton, Valencia and Villarreal have all expressed interest in signing the player. The Red Devils, however, are willing to keep the player at the club this season.

One of the major stumbling blocks for Manchester United to sell unwanted players outside England is the massive wages they are paying the players which clubs outside England cannot afford.

Phil Jones and Matteo Darmian will also stay at the club for the season and a squad review is expected to take place in January as Mourinho is ready to make more changes to the squad.

The 28-year old is one of the best midfielders for Manchester United last season and is keen to play an important role for the club despite limited opportunities this season.
