Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi signs a new long term contract with the club.

The club tweeted to confirm the news.

The tweet read:

The 19-year-old forward, who is an important member of the Gunners’ under-21s, also impressed for the first team during the pre-season. He was part of Arsène Wenger’s squad which travelled to Singapore in July and scored his first senior goal for the club a fortnight later in the Emirates Cup, against Lyon.

Alex Iwobi finished the 2014/15 campaign with nine goals in nine matches for the under-21s and has continued his scoring form this season, netting twice in five appearances for the second string.

He is a graduate of the Arsenal Academy, Alex first joined the club while still in primary school.

Having represented England at youth level, the Lagos-born youngster is currently away on senior international duty with Nigeria.

In their official statement, Arsenal confirmed the news and wished the youngster luck.

The statement read: “Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Alex on his new contract and looks forward to his continued progression in the season ahead.”

The player himself was also exciting on the announcement of his deal with the club.
