Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers took a quick flight to be in Italy for tonight’s relegation battle between Parma and Chievo. It has been reported that Rodgers will be in the Stadio Ennio Tardini stadium to watch Chievo’s Goal Keeper Francesco Bardi.
Liverpool have been looking to find a stable goal keeper as Simon Mignolet has failed to convince Brendan Rodgers and fans of being the man to start in goal for Liverpool week in week out.
The match between Parma and Chievo was scheduled to be played on Sunday but was postponed for Wednesday and Rodgers made sure he did not miss the game as he rushed out of Spurs game and did not even attend the post-match interview.
In Rodgers’ absence Colin Pascoe addressed the media.
Pascore discussed Rodgers, Balotelli and Gerrard. Pascore said:
“Brendan had to shoot off to catch a plane.
“Mario Balotelli has been working hard in training and for the last couple of weeks he’s been ill so it’s great that he scored the winner.
“Steven Gerrard felt his hamstring and felt he had to come off. It was important to win tonight, it was a great win and we deserved it.”
Brendan Rodgers will have an eye on 19-year-old defender/midfielder Federico Mattiello as well who is on loan at Chievo from Juventus. Liverpool have previously scouted Mattiello and see him as the able prospect for the future at Anfield.
Rodgers, however will be hopeful for Francesco Bardi to start in goal for Chievo. Bardi, 23 Year old goal keeper is currently on loan from Inter Milan and there are reports that Bardi is seen as the possible long-term replacement for the current Inter Milan Goal Keeper Samir Handanovic and might return to San Siro next season.
Liverpool are looking to act swiftly and tie up a deal with Francesco Bardi before he joins Inter Milan on a long-term basis.
