Manchester United were one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer market at the start of the season and this summer might not be any different.

Jose Mourinho, the Portuguese manager who is struggling to find consistency with his squad this season, is determined to add some star names to his squad this summer and has been linked to some of the best players in Europe.

However, recent reports suggest that his prime target is former Everton star Romelu Lukaku.

The current top goalscorer in the league, Lukaku is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe at the moment and has been in fine form this season.

He worked under Mourinho in their time at the Stamford Bridge but the Manchester United man let him join Everton, regarding him as surplus to requirements.

However, with the 24-year old now turning into a world beater, Mourinho is determined to get him to Old Trafford to solve the goal scoring problems at the club.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the current top scorer for United, has recently hinted that he might stay at the club for another year but Mourinho is adamant that he wants the Belgian in his squad next season.

Lukaku was offered a bumper new contract to become Everton’s highest paid player but the 24-year rejected the deal and is searching for a new club.

Working under Mourinho might be a bit awkward for Lukaku who is also wanted at the Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte is not convinced that Diego Costa can handle all the responsibilities in front of goal next season and is ready to make a move for the Everton man this summer.

It is understood that Conte is ready to meet his valuation of £70m in the summer and is also ready to let Michy Batshuayi go the other way if Everton are interested.

Price should not be a problem for Manchester United who are also looking at Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann for a move in the summer.

Mourinho is convinced that he needs an attacking addition in the summer and it is better to trust Lukaku’s experience in the Premier League than to spend insane amounts on the Frenchman who will only make his debut in England.

With both clubs interested in Lukaku, it is understood that the English duo will engage in a battle for the Belgian this transfer window.
