Chelsea battle Roma and Manchester City for the sign for new left-back

English Champions Chelsea and the club from Manchester, City are set to make their bids for the left-back from Augsburg named Baba Rahman after Italian side AS Roma already placed their bid for the player.

AS Roma are said to have made an offer of around £11million last weekend and however the 21-year-old star is said to be waiting for the Premier League sides’ offer as England is his preferred destination.

England’s champions Chelsea know of Roma’s offer and will probably step up their pursuit in the coming week as City are expected to do the same following them.

Chelsea are ready to offer a rather expensive contract to the player but the final decision will need some time.

Baba is said to be one of manager Jose Mourinho’s top targets for this summer as current left-back Filipe Luis is all but sure to rejoin his former team Atletico Madrid.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Chelsea have already held talks with Baba for a move which could be around the £10.5million mark but reports suggest that Augsburg want a price of £18m.

Roma who have already made a big have reported tabled a £1.5m-per-year contract too and have gone onto guarantee direct first-team action for the player. Cesar Azpilicueta is the current left-back at the London club and neither Roma, Chelsea nor Manchester City have yet agreed to any fee for the player.
