Chelsea confirm Guus Hiddink will be replaced this season, offer already made to a Premier League manager

The current season’s form the reigning Champions could have easily seen Jose Mourinho lose his job a lot earlier. The Special One was not really able to inject any kind of rhythm into his squad and finally paid the price for his team’s lethargic form.

However, the biggest problem for the owners while letting Mourinho go would have been the headache of finding a new manager for the current squad to try and bring them out of the mess that they are in. The owners of the club are already on the search of a long term successor at the club and according to reports, they have approached a Premier League winning manager to replace Huddink at the end of the season.

Manuel Pellegrini whose contact was extended amidst a lot of speculation at the start of the season. Even after the extension, there were rumors that this was going to be his last year at the Etihad and the reports that Pep Guardiola is set to leave Bayern in the summer will have increased the pressure on the 62-year old.

Chelsea’s owners keeping this in mind have reportedly contracted the Manchester City boss about a possible move to London according to some reports in Spain. The former Real Madrid manager emerged as a shock contender for the job at Chelsea given that he was never in the initial plans at the club.

Pellegrini is known to be a calm customer and is one of the few coaches in the Premier League that do not like to show their emotions on the field. He will provide the calming influence that Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovic will like after the wild ride that was Jose Mourinho.

Pellegrini is already under scrutiny and may well lose his job next season even if he is successful this season. The Chilean manager accepted the Guardiola would be a great manager for City and can easily make the move to London this summer.

Pellegrini, talking about Pep Guardiola said “I hope he will have the option to work at Manchester City,” Pellegrini said of Guardiola.

“I say that because I love this club and I hope, in the future, he can work here also. I am sure that he will be very important for the club.

“A lot of things will happen in the future. But when is the future? You never know. It might be next year. But I don’t worry. The only thing I am worried about is this year, trying to win the most amount of trophies I can.”

These kinds of speculations will do the rounds all throughout this season given the nature of the names involved. The owners of the club will surely have a clear picture of where they want the club to be in the coming years and will surely get the best man for the job.
