Chelsea could lose one of their key defenders next summer

The Blues could be losing one of their most experienced defenders this summer. Ivanovic’s contract expires in about six months and a new deal doesn’t really seem to be offered, from the English club. The 31-year-old defender will be a free agent in this summer. The player wishes to stay at London because of his family but would eye an exit from Stamford Bridge if not offered a contract extension.

Talking about moving out from the English giants, Italian giants Inter Milan has showed keen interest in sealing the deal with Branislav. Milan boss Roberto Mancini is a big fan of Ivanovic and wants him to join the Italian side.

The defender is having an awful season with the Blues and has entered his final six months of the contract. A contract extension seems uncertain because of Chelsea’s policy. The English club has its policies that the term extensions of players above 30 years of age do not take place until February of their final year deal.

This makes him out of deal in the summer and assures Italian club Inter Milan to convince the player for a move to San Siro. Ivanovic had hoped for a new deal under Jose, but that never happened. It seems that the defender could soon be saying good bye to the club where he spent 7 good long years.
