Chelsea have been the best Premier League side in terms of handling their transfer activities in recent transfer windows. Since his comeback, Jose Mourinho has got rid of all the unwanted squad players and brought in some world class talents at Chelsea.

This philosophy has kept the blues in good books of UEFA and FFP. Using this as a leverage Chelsea are set to splash some extra money on wages and bring Real Madrid star Sami Khedira at Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window.

Mourinho was the manager when Sami Khedira joined Real Madrid and the duo enjoyed a terrific working relationship. Mourinho loves a player of khedira’s abilities and thrives on building his team’s midfield around the player with such grit & skills.

As the leading German newspaper BILD reports, Chelsea are edging closer to secure a deal for Khedira to re-unite with his former boss Jose Mourinho. Chelsea will know that Khedira will not be an easy catch as many of the top teams around Europe including Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Schalke are after the German’s signature but the chance of working with Mourinho might seal the deal in Chelsea’s favour.

Khedira’s current contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer and he has shown no hesitation in admitting that he would be open to move away from Bernabeau if the new contract is not offered to him. Real Madrid have recently signed Lucas Silva which perhaps has signalled the end for Khedira’s time with Los Blancos.

Jose Mourinho has been alarmed with the lack of result for Chelsea in games where their key enforcer Nemanja Matic has been missing. Matic will be serving his 2 match ban following his infuriating reaction to Ashley Barne’s challenge.

Mourinho is looking to close any possibilities of his side loosing points despite any of his key player missing. Matic and Khedira will give Mourinho plenty of cover in the mid field to allow the likes of Hazard, Fabregas and Cuadrado to go out and express themselves alongside Diego Costa.
