Antonio Conte, the former Italian boss who took over the Stamford Bridge outfit in the English Premier League has done some smart business in the transfer window.

He has added that likes of Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante to his attack and midfield and has strengthened his squad considerably going into the next season.

But with the injury to Kurt Zouma, Conte is left with Gary Cahill and John Terry as the only two senior center backs at the club. This has seen the new manager scout for a new top class defender to get to his team this summer.

The club was linked with a move for Everton’s John Stones and Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci in the past but Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly has now emerged as the top transfer target with the manager ready to make a move for the defender.

Chelsea have already been rejected in their initial approach of £38m for the center back with Napoli not ready to sell before finding a replacement and this has seen the manager look elsewhere for back-up options.

It is now revealed that Conte might once again go head to head against Ronald Koeman for yet another transfer target this summer.

Though it is revealed that Chelsea are ready to make an improved offer for Koulibaly who is valued at £50m it is now understood that they are also looking at Sunderland’s Lamine Kone as a possible replacement.

Ronald Koeman wants Kone as a replacement for John Stones who left to Manchester City earlier this week and is ready to splash £18m for his man this summer.

But it is now understood that Chelsea have joined the race for Kone’s signature and are keeping close tabs on the 27-year old Ivorian international.

However, Koulibaly reportedly remains Chelsea’s top priority transfer target as they look to bolster their defense ahead of the next season.

Benfica’s Victor Lindelof is reportedly another option and it will be interesting to see who Conte gets his hands on come to the end of the transfer window.

Who do you think Chelsea will sign this summer?
