Shocking: Chelsea midfielder wants to move out due to lack of playing time

Chelsea, like a number of top clubs in England, are awaiting a very important summer transfer window where a lot at the club is set to change.

With the current manager Guus Hiddink set to leave the club at the end of the season, Antonio Conte, the coach of the Italian national team, is tipped off to replace the Dutchman and there are plenty of rumors going around with players moving in and away from the club.

The likes of Costa and Hazard might move away from the club this summer and midfielder John Obi Mikel is now added to the list of players who might not feature for the club next season.

The Nigerian international is contracted with the club till 2017, but he has made it clear that he has no plans of extending his stay at the Bridge unless he is given assurances of a regular role on the side.

“I have one more season with Chelsea but I know when this season ends, we will definitely sit down and try to sort out whatever needs to be sorted out,” the 28-year-old told Goal.com.

The 28-year old hardly featured under Jose Mourinho previously but has been able to get loads of playing time under Guus Hiddink. But with Hiddink set to leave the club in the summer, Mikel is rightly worried about his future and needs to be guaranteed playing time if he is to continue playing for the Blues.

He insisted that he is in the best time of his career and that he needs to play games constantly to stay in touch.

He added that he just wants to play irrespective of the club and league and assured that the contract talks will take place with the club after the end of the season.

“It’s not very nice, especially now when you have kids you just want to do what you can to play,” said the midfielder.

However, with Conte hoping to bring the likes of Radja Nainggolan to Chelsea next season, Mikel’s chances of a regular place in the squad are all but dashed.

He is an experienced holding midfielder who can provide solid cover to the back four and will be an asset for any team that signs him.

It will be interesting to see if the 28-year makes the move away from the club and where he plies his trade next season.

Where do you want to see John Obi Mikel play next season?
