Arsenal are one of the many clubs in the Premier League this summer that are looking all over Europe for quality additions to their squad.

The manager has been busy in search of a top-class striker since the start of the transfer window but has not able to agree on a deal with any of his top transfer targets.

But Wenger was dealt a blow recently with Per Mertesacker, the first choice center back at the club, picked up a cruel injury that will keep him out of the game for at least 5 months.

This has thrown the club into the transfer market once again for a quality center back and the club has been linked with a move for a number of players in that position including former Manchester United man Jonny Evans.

But one link that has taken a twist recently is German international Shkordan Mustafi.

The German international, who has been one of the most consistent defenders in the La Liga recently is said to be a top transfer target for the Gunners.

The defender reportedly has a £41m release clause but Valencia are ready to listen to offers around the £25m mark. However, it was revealed that Arsenal are only ready to splash £15m on the player and are pondering over increasing their bid to £20m.

This indecision, like in the past, has seen Arsene Wenger attract competition for his summer target.

It is now understood that Antonio Conte, who is also looking for a center back this summer has joined the race for the signature of Mustafi this summer.

The likes of Kostas Manolas and Kalidou Koulibaly were linked with a  move to Chelsea recently but the manager has not been able to agree on a deal with any of his targets and has now reportedly turned his attention towards Mustafi.

It is revealed that Musafi is added to Conte’s wishlist at Chelsea but is not at the top of the list at the moment.

Arsenal should also fend off reported interests from Everton and Arsenal for the defender who has suddenly become a hot property in the transfer market.

Wenger will have to act quickly to get his man. Do you think Arsenal can sign Shkordan Mustafi this summer?
