Bad News: Chelsea star to be sidelined for two weeks

Srikanth / 05 January 2016

Chelsea star Eden Hazard is reportedly expected to return in time to play against Arsenal, which is scheduled at the end of the month.

Hazard will miss at least two weeks after having picked up an injury in the 3-0 win against Crystal Palace, limping off the field in less than 15 minutes of

Initially it was thought that he would be sidelined for more time, but it comes as a relief to Chelsea fans as it may affect Guus Hiddink’s extremely busy

schedule in January.

Fans were however not happy to see Hazard limp off in the 14th minute and took to twitter to blast the player.

After the win against Crystal Palace, Guus replied : “Hazard sprained his leg, he has a little problem with a groin muscle – we will see more

with an MRI scan tomorrow.”

The results of the scan seem to be positive and no major issue has been detected and the player has been sidelined only for two weeks.

Hazard will be missing the FA Cup clash with Scunthorpe and most probably also the home games against West Brom and Everton.

Considering the estimated period, he would be just in time for the Arsenal match and that match will probably decide Chelsea’s hopes of a top-four finish,

set by the optimistic Hiddink.

The interim manager however conceded that it is tough to achieve the target and said,

“It’s difficult because this league has become so strong; everyone can win from everyone – it’s possible but there’s a long way to go.”

Hazard had previously picked up an injury against Leicester City last month and it is good to know that there is no substantial setback for the Blues as he is

sidelined only for two weeks and the Belgian winger is struggling to make a positive impact this season, after having guided Chelsea to the premier league

last season.
