According to reports in Squawka, Italian giants AS Roma have started talks with their star midfielder, Radja Nainggolan to convince him for a new long-term contract at the club.
Since moving to Roma from Cagliari in 2014, the Belgian international has been an integral part of the Serie A outfit.
But the 28-year old’s future at Roma looked incredibly uncertain earlier in the summer, as he was heavily linked to English giants Chelsea. However, as the deal between Chelsea and Roma failed to materialise, the Blues signed Premier League winning defender N’Golo Kante from Leicester City to bolster their midfield.
Now, according to the club’s director Mauro Baldissoni, Roma and Nainggolan have held talks over a potential contract extension until 2021.
“We have talked to the player,” Baldissoni told Mediaset Premium.
“You all know he was wanted by several clubs, above all Chelsea, and we’d meet up after the transfer window had closed to discuss an adjustment to his terms that reflected the interest on the market.
“The squad is practically complete and we are planning for the future regardless of tonight’s result.”
Roma are desperate to keep the midfielder at the club after the departure of Miralem Pjanic to Juventus.
