Chelsea’s bid of 20 million euros for Bologna’s young defensive midfielder Amadou Diawara has been turned down, along with Manchester City, it has been reported. The Bologna club hierarchy believe that Diawara is a long term prospect and can see him roping in a club record fee in the future.
Diawara is a Guinea international and plays as the quintessential number 6 in the Bologna team. He has grown in stature since his debut and displays a maturity beyond his tender age of 18.
He already has a total of 16 appearances over the current season and is widely expected to be a firm fixture in the Bologna side. A future move to a bigger club is a matter of when and not if.
To keep their future star longer and to receive a higher compensation for him, Bologna hierarchy have set up plans to offer an improved contract and will try their best to persuade this talent to stay at the club currently lying in the 15th position in the Serie A.
In further news emerging from Italy, Chelsea have registered interest in Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The Croat had arrived in Inter just the last January with the side injecting funds into transfers to overcome the dire straits they were in but soon he was left on the fringes by Roberto Mancini with other players usurping his spot.
Brozovic is a known Chelsea fan and plays as a box to box midfielder like his idol, Frank Lampard. It is his fan hood which makes him an intriguing proposition for Chelsea. He can be a decent back up to Nemanja Matic with the midfield depth at Chelsea lacking to say the least.
Brozovic has made a total of 10 appearances this season for the Nerazurri and has been set a price tag of 15 million euros by the Milan club.
