Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are currently at the top of the Premier League table, 8 points off Arsenal at the second place. The manager spent an insane amount of money in the summer to improve the squad from the previous season and Conte has been successful with almost every signing for Chelsea.
Spanish striker Diego Costa is currently the top goal scorer in the league but Belgian international Michy Batshuayi is the only player who can provide cover for him if needed.
But Batshuayi is still in his first season at the club and Conte is determined to add another backup to the squad to may even send the youngster on loan.
One such backup that is on its way to the Stamford Bridge is Torino’s, Andrea Belotti.
In what should be an amazing coup on deadline day, Chelsea are set to land the Torino star in London just hours before the end of the transfer window.
According to reports from the Sky, Chelsea are planning to make a huge bid for the star in upcoming hours and have already sent their representatives to finish the deal quickly.
Chelsea’s director Michael Emanalo is currently in Italy finalising a deal and Chelsea are reportedly confident of landing the player before the deadline.
The Blues were linked with a few other stars in Fernando Llorente and Leon Bailey among others but all such options were backup.
However, the 23-year old Italian that Chelsea wants now is far from a backup.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of the striker but Wenger has not been able to get the Italian side to reduce their asking price. They were rejected in their £56m approach in January and though they are still interested, Chelsea have now run away with his signature.
Belotti, is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe at the moment and has 13 goals in 17 domestic league games this season.
Conte is also a long-term admirer of the player and has been monitoring him from the start of the month and if these reports are true, it will turn out to be the most high-profile transfer this January.
Belotti has a release clause of €100m but Chelsea are confident that they can land a deal in the upcoming days and this deal might see Conte let Michy Batshuayi out on loan till the end of the season with West Ham United looking the most likely destination.
Do you think the 23-year old Italian is a good option for Chelsea? Should they spend big on him?
