Borussia Monchengladbach are giving it all to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen who is currently on a loan spell with the German club.
The 20-year old is in the middle of a two-year loan spell and have been a cornerstone of Gladbach’s defense last season as he managed 31 appearances for the German club as they managed to qualify for Champions League.
Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl said on Monday that a win against Swiss side Young Boys in the Champions League play-off could make a difference in the player’s decision.
“We absolutely want to sign him. Now it depends on money,” said Eberl.
The club have already lodged a £14.25m which was snubbed by the Blues as they are in need of a quality centre back for the next season as John Terry is expected to retire at the end of the upcoming season.
However, Andreas Christensen is keen to have regular first team football which is not readily available at Stamford Bridge which could prompt the Danish international to stay at the German club.
He said: “The main thing is, to play. That’s the main thing that I want for my future.
“It is all about playing football and that’s it. Playing at Chelsea is an ambition of mine, to play over there in the first team but right now I am not thinking about the future.”
