Antonio Conte has been a busy man this summer since he took over the Stamford Bridge outfit late this summer after ending his ties with the Italian national team at the end of the EUROs.
He has bought in the likes of Michy Batshuayi and N’ Golo Kante to strengthen his squad and has gotten off to a winning start in his first three matches of his adventure in England in two different competitions.
However, the former Italian boss is less than impressed with his options in defense and is desperate for additions to his squad at the back before the deadline day.
The likes of John Terry and Gary Cahill are the only two defensive options for the squad at the moment with Kurt Zouma out with a lengthy injury.
This has seen the manager look into the transfer market for additions with the likes of Nikola Maksimovic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Alessio Romagnoli.
However, the Blue have not been able to get their hands on any of the top transfer targets and the manager is reportedly growing desperate for an addition at the back.
Recent reports have now suggested that Chelsea have turned their attention towards former Bolton left back Marcos Alonso.
It is understood that Conte is now fed up of looking to price top class targets away from their club at the end of the transfer window and is looking to add Alonso as one of the two defenders he reportedly wants ahead of the next season.
The 25-year old who has played in the Premier League for Bolton and Sunderland is currently playing for Fiorentina and is expected to be easy enough to lure away from Italy.
It is understood that a move for the Spanish national will allow Antonio Conte to use Branislav Ivanovic in a makeshift center back position by shifting Azpilicueta to the right wing in defense.
The 25-year old was once a part of Real Madrid but was never able to prove himself. However, he had a fruitful time in Italy making 31 appearances scoring three goals and providing 4 assists for his side.
It will be interesting to see if Conte resigns to be satisfied with Alonso as one of the additions to his squads this summer. Do you think Marcus Alonso is a right option for the Blues?
